What Is Private: Anonymity and Minors' Data
Who can see an athlete's Public Profile and College Profile, stats and contact details, and how the coach link controls it.
Private data is always hidden unless you choose to share it, and you can always ask for your data to be taken down from the 6-8 platform completely: submit a request.
Families choose what other people see. Each athlete has two profiles on the 6-8 Dashboard, edited in one place:
- Public Profile: the page anyone opens by clicking View next to the athlete on the Dashboard.
- College Profile: for college coaches. It opens only for people you send your coach link to and is never public.
Check each item in both profiles when you set them up, so you know exactly what is shown.
Open Edit my College Profile. On the 6-8 Dashboard, open your user menu and choose Edit my College Profile. In the 6-8 Mobile App, Create my College Profile on an Athlete Profile opens the athlete's College Profile on the 6-8 Dashboard.
Switch between the two profiles. The toggle at the top of Edit my College Profile switches between Public Profile and College Profile. Your details are the same in both, and each item has its own Shown or Hidden choice in each profile. Choosing what the Public Profile shows comes with Plus or Premium. Until then it shows game data only.
| Part | What you control |
|---|---|
| Coach link | On: only people you send your coach link to can open the College Profile. It is not listed on the Dashboard, where the Leaderboard still shows game scores for every athlete. Off: the coach link stops working, and only your family's 6-8 account can see the College Profile. Use Copy coach link on My College Profile to send it. The coach link comes with Premium. Without it, the Coach link switch stays off with a note to upgrade in the 6-8 Mobile App, and Copy coach link is turned off. |
| Athlete details | Edit Gender, Height, Wingspan, Home town, Swim times, Birthday and Contact (email and phone), then set each one to Shown or Hidden, separately for the Public Profile and the College Profile. Changes are saved to the Athlete Profile in the 6-8 Mobile App as well. |
| School and team | Club Team, High School / Secondary School, Grad Year, GPA and Transcripts. A 6-8 admin checks GPA before coaches can see it. |
| About Me, Achievements & Awards, Highlight Videos | What coaches read and watch first. Highlight Videos hold game highlights from the 6-8 Mobile App and other video links. |
| Scores and stats | Filled in from your games. |
Tap Save when you are done.
What a new athlete starts with. Name, gender, grad year and position start as Shown. Every other item starts as Hidden until the family changes it. The coach link starts off.
Choose what the coach link shows. On the athlete's page on the 6-8 Dashboard, Choose what to share turns each part of the coach link on or off, such as PI, Skill radar, Season stats, Game by game and Highlights.
Contact details. Birthday and Contact (email and phone) show only on a profile where you set them to Shown. People you invite with Invite user by email get view-only access without contact details.
Shared games are public. When a coach or event shares a game to 6-8 Scores, its box score is public. To show only the athlete's cap number instead of their name, open the Athlete Profile in the 6-8 Mobile App, tap Edit, and in Edit Athlete turn on Show only the cap number on public box scores. The athlete then shows by cap number on 6-8 Scores, on shared game images and on live stream graphics, and the stats still count. Questions about a public box score? Submit a request.
Leaving 6-8. In the 6-8 Mobile App, tap Profile at the top right of Home, then Delete Account. When a family deletes an athlete, or the whole account, that athlete shows only as a cap number (for example Cap 7) on public box scores, team rosters, leaderboards and live stream graphics, with no name, photo or player link, and no longer appears in player search. Their game stats still count, so team stats stay correct. See the 6-8 privacy policy.
